My journey into Art Therapy

During COVID-19, my curiosity and artistic expression led me to how art can be used as personal expression in difficult times. I steered away from my traditional digital drawings on my Ipad and started creating images on A1 canvas using acrylic paint. This shift in my own artistic practice, intrigued me. I came across a 4 week online course of an Introduction to Art Therapy by Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore. I was hooked! All my interests (dreams, spirituality, art, animal kingdom, symbols) were combined and brought together under the umbrella of Art Therapy!

A year later, in 2021, I was accepted onto the MA Art Therapy programme at Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore. After an intense and overwhelming two year course, I am now a qualified and registered Art Therapist with British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT), The Australian, New Zealand and Asia Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA) and Art Therapists’ Association Singapore (ATAS).
I embark on a deeper journey on combining my love for art to aid in self discovery, growth, transformation and self awareness.

I knew there was more to art than just creating aesthetically pleasing images and that it was through art, that I found my own voice.

What is Art Therapy?

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy in which art materials are utilised in the session as a method of self expression and communication.

Art Therapy is not an art class and there is no judgement in the art work created during the session.

Art Therapy is open to all ages.
